SGS Minerals Services (previously known as Lakefield Research) are looking into hiring more hydrometallurgists for our hydromet group as part of the Metallurgical Operations Group in Lakefield/Ontario. I am interested in receiving resumes from graduate students in their final year at masters level, but also those in their final year of their BEng (Met Eng) or Ph.D.. Lakefield is an excellent place to start a career and if a good fit is found, careers can take off quickly. The perfect candidate is hands on, has a solid theoretical background in chemical engineering and hydrometallurgy and is not afraid to supervise peers, technologists and uneducated people.
We perform metallurgical pilot studies for the international mining and metallurgical industries and in our field we are the dominant market leader. We are very active in the gold industry, base metal industry (Ni, Co, Cu, Zn etc) and diamonds exploration. Within the hydromet group we have performed several pilot programs consisting of complex hydromet flowsheets. These are typically multi metal deposits (Ni/Co/Cu/Zn/PGM), but also Ni-laterites (PAL processing or atmospheric leaching). We are interested in summer placements as well as contract positions (which could likely lead to permanent positions).
